Carrier Helps Industrial Facilities Cut Cooling Costs and Support future proofing installations with low-GWP refrigerants

Industrial facilities face growing pressure to maintain critical processes while managing energy costs, climate regulations and sustainability goals. To help customers meet these demands, Carrier has upgraded its AquaEdge® 19XR Two-stage Centrifugal Chiller, including new ultra-low GWP refrigerant R-1234ze, delivering high-capacity cooling designed to improve efficiency, simplify maintenance and support future proofing installations with low-GWP refrigerants.

Carrier is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

For industrial customers with energy-intensive cooling needs, the upgraded 19XR helps reduce cooling-related energy use with efficiency of up to COP 6.6 and IPLV 11. Its two-stage technology delivers up to 15% higher efficiency in high-lift conditions compared with traditional single-stage designs, while up to 10 MW capacity and an operating range from -6°C to +45°C support demanding process-cooling applications across industrial environments.

For facility and maintenance teams, the 19XR’s robust semi-hermetic design is engineered to support long-term operation in complex industrial settings. Its optimised architecture has 54% fewer aerodynamic parts than conventional single-stage chillers, reducing maintenance complexity while enabling a compact footprint and low-noise operation.

The chiller can support lower-emission operation by allowing customers to select the most appropriate refrigerant for each application. It is compatible with ultra-low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants, including R-1234ze, R-513A and R-515B, and uses a low overall refrigerant charge to help support customers’ sustainability priorities.
