Reliable Fuel Management Services in the UK
Do you need diesel fuel delivered to your site? Does fuel ordering take time away from your day‑to‑day activities? Carrier Rental Systems supports customers with a fully managed fuel service, designed to reduce operational workload while ensuring reliable and compliant fuel supply.
By combining fuel management services with an advanced, UK‑specific approach to fuel selection, Carrier helps customers control costs, maintain uninterrupted operations and reduce environmental impact.
Our approach to Reliable Fuel Management
Our managed service includes:
- Fuel deliveries aligned with actual fuel consumption and storage capacity
- Planning based on equipment type and operating time (provided by the customer)
- Ongoing monitoring to ensure customers do not run out of fuel
This structured approach helps reduce operational risk and ensures continuity of service.
Competitive pricing and cost control
Carrier Rental Systems understands that customers want price transparency and cost predictability.
Once fuel volumes are established:
- Pricing is agreed based on current market fuel costs, delivery location and frequency
- Fuel prices can be fixed for the hire contract period, for a maximum of three months*
- Customers gain improved visibility and control over monthly fuel expenditure
Industrial Heating Oil (IHO) for heating applications
Industrial Heating Oil (IHO) is a cost‑effective alternative to standard heating gas oil, suitable for all heating applications.
Key characteristics:
- Must not be used for power generation or to power plant and machinery, by law
- Free from fuel levies
- Direct drop‑in replacement for boilers, dryers and heaters, with no equipment modifications
Benefits of IHO include:
- Equivalent energy output at reduced cost
- New product with no waste oil component
- Proven reliability and compatibility with heating systems
Carrier Rental Systems is rolling out IHO across its UK and Ireland network, working with suppliers to ensure nationwide availability.
White diesel availability
At most branches, Carrier Rental Systems offers HVO and IHO for the relevant applications.
Where these fuels are not yet available:
- Standard white diesel continues to be supplied
- This ensures uninterrupted service and full support for all hire projects
Nationwide coverage is currently being completed.
Changes to red diesel permitted usage in the UK
From 1 April 2022, UK government tax changes restrict the use of tax‑rebated red diesel in certain sectors, to encourage the transition to less polluting fuels such as HVO and to reduce diesel consumption.
Sectors affected include:
- Construction
- Waste management
- Highways and road maintenance
- Oil and gas extraction
- Commercial heating
- Airport operations and ports
- Manufacturing
- Logistics and haulage
- Leisure
- Mining and quarrying
Sectors not listed may continue to use red diesel, subject to HMRC regulations.*
Customers with back‑up fuel generators may continue using red diesel purchased before 10 June 2021. Otherwise, a specific HMRC licence may be required.
To support customers affected by these changes, Carrier Rental Systems has introduced HVO biodiesel across its network.
*For full regulatory details, customers should refer to official HMRC guidance.
