Utilities - Water Pump Cooling 300 kW Chiller Hire
Pump motors were found to be overheating during the installation phase of a major water utility pumping works, believed to be one of the largest in Europe. Time pressure to deliver the project and ensure continuity of service meant that a rapid and reliable solution was required.
What Did We Do?
We responded to an emergency call-out on a Saturday from a pump specialist. Chiller sizes and capacities were discussed and required equipment specified.
How Did We Do It?
Delivery of three 100 kW chillers and related equipment was agreed and arranged for 7.00am the following Sunday morning. Chillers were craned 30 m down a dry well riser shaft into a tunnel, commissioned and working within 24 hours of the initial call.

The Results
The speed of the response ensured there was no damage to riser-based heat exchangers, and downtime on the project was avoided. The ability to act quickly, understand the customer’s precise requirements, and deliver a technically appropriate solution was key to the project’s success.
