Carrier Rental Systems Keeps Guests Cool with 1 MW Solution at 5-Star Manor
Carrier Rental Systems successfully delivered a 1MW temporary cooling and heating solution for a high-profile summertime wedding at a luxury manor in Ireland.
The Client
The event took place at a renowned five-star venue in County Limerick, Ireland. The lavish wedding was coordinated by specialist events contractor PC Rentals, a long-standing event partner of Carrier Rental Systems. Known for delivering exceptional event environments, PC Rentals entrusted Carrier with the challenge of maintaining a comfortable climate throughout the celebrations.
The Challenge
The summer event required precise temperature control within a temporary Orangery structure, hosting several hundred guests. During the day, internal temperatures in the glass venue could exceed 30°C, while in the evening they could drop sharply.
To maintain a comfortable environment throughout the event, Carrier Rentals Systems needed to provide both cooling and heating capabilities in a solution that would remain discreet, efficient and fully integrated with the wider event setup.
The project’s logistics also posed challenges: the installation team had to run pipework and hose beneath the marquee flooring, coordinating closely with multiple contractors under tight timeframes. The build phase spanned four weeks, during which the equipment was in operation for a one-week event.
The Solution
Carrier Rental Systems supplied a 1 MW cooling system comprising:
• Seven Carrier chillers, ranging from 100 kW to 160kW, providing a total of 1 MW of cooling capacity.
• Over 40 fan coil units (each rated at 20 kW).
• Seven 1,000-litre buffer vessels, providing system stability and preventing chiller short cycling.
• A 100 kW air handling unit installed beneath the Orangery for additional cooling.
• Over 950 metres of hose, including 580 metres of 2-inch hose, to distribute conditioned air throughout the venue.
The installation was powered by on-site generators, with system testing and optimisation carried out daily to maintain temperature balance. Cooling systems were operated during the day, while heating was activated in the evening to ensure guest comfort as outside temperatures dropped.
Results
Carrier Rental Systems’ solution maintained a consistent and comfortable environment throughout the week-long celebration, despite fluctuating external temperatures. The project’s success demonstrated Carrier’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-performance climate control for temporary structures with demanding comfort and aesthetic requirements.
Meticulous planning and coordination with PC Rentals ensured smooth delivery, with five site visits and walkthroughs prior to installation to align scheduling, logistics and system layout.
